Cape Cod Mayflower Decorative was started by a group of women who were interested in painting, supporting each other,learning new skills, sharing information and having a meeting place reach their goals.
The name Cape cod Mayflower Decorative Artists as derived by the initial group of artists. How they decided on the name was simple Cape Cod because it's known world wide, Mayflower because of it's history and the significance to Plymouth area and the Artists which includes all styles of painting.
The chapter applied for organization through the society of decorative painters in 1993. In 1995 the chapter became a subordinate of the Society and all members of the Mayflower chapter became members of the Society of Decorative Painters. The chapter recently celebrated the 10 anniversary of it's affiliation with the Society.
The chapter meets six times a year, every third Saturday of the month. We have guests Artist instructors from all over the country and New England. The chapter participates in charitable project and lends it's talents in helping others. We have classes that cover a range of artistic techniques from beginners to advanced, from water color to fabric
